Olmos There!

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

After leaving my house with 20 minutes left on my download of Battlestar Galactica on Monday, the rest of the day was laden with impatience. So I’m sitting in my Speech class and the teacher asks us to turn to chapter six. Low and behold Edward James Olmos (Commander William Adama of BSG) is prominently placed upon the page, I started to think I was hallucinating, “Come on flash backs not now!.” But this was no hallucination, it was indeed Adama himself in my textbook, mustache and all.

It didn’t have his name on the picture and so I did some research and followed the credit given in the book. It was credited to one Mark Richards of PhotoEdit inc. who specialize in taking pictures of ethnic and minority people, just an interesting side note

So far I have only recorded audio but as soon as those taxes come back expect some video as I am building a green screen in my basement, and learning some 3d animation

Well

Thursday, December 21st, 2006

Well, well, well. I have been working on my new web page (http://artifishalldesign.com) and I realized how much I use the word well.

Well, I figured this out when I added the atom feed to the page and displayed the first sentences of the past ten blogs. Well, four of them started with the word well and that my friend is almost half (well that is assuming you are in the beginning of your grade school career or have no arithmetic skills whatsoever).

So what I am prepared to do is overuse the word well now, right here in this blog, and then no more. (well at least not as often)

What a week for Open Source!

Monday, November 13th, 2006

What a week for Open Source! First Adobe in partnership with Mozilla, announced the release of Tamarin, a code word for what is actually the ActionScript virtual machine. ActionScript is the language that their Flash player uses. Mozilla will embed Tamarin in their JavaScript engine SpiderMokey in hopes to create a new standard for web 2.0.

A little more substantial addition to the open source community comes from Sun Microsystems who announced on today that by march 2007 they will release Java under the GPL in hopes to attract more developers and extend the language’s lifespan.

Just wait

Soon I’ll be in the wilderness

bloom

Well not only is this the last picture taken with my now defunct cell phone, this is the first bloom from a 9 year old plant. It came as a housewarming gift from my sister and is my very first houseplant . This was a very proud moment as I never even expected it to bloom. The bloom has now past, lasting a good ten days.

happy birthday
Originally uploaded by anneke boudreau.

I received an email with this wonderful picture today from my sister and nephew. Yes it is my 29th birthday today and just to make sure that no one thinks I’m rude I have a little story to tell.

Friday I had a two hour break from work so I went home and did my laundry. I was in a bit of a hurry so I grabbed everything, threw it in, went back upstairs had lunch, and watched some bsg webisodes. When I went to grab everything out of the drier I knew I messed up, there was my cell phone cover laying on top of the cloths. After pulling out all my clothes I had found the rest. So the morel of the story, cell phones need not be washed and dried for they won’t work thereafter.

I guess the universe was saying happy birthday, have a new phone!

though I don’t get my replacement until tomorrow when fedEX will be knocking on my door.

It’s about time

Tuesday, September 12th, 2006

Well I just downloaded itunes 7 and I have to say is it is about time. Gapless playback for both itunes and the new ipods, i mean come on what took you so long apple. The other nice thing, missing artwork automatically downloads, that means I will be wasting less bandwith on amazon looking for all those album covers from the past to hook up my ripped cd collection.

…. Still to come, my itunes anouncement ;)

It’s Showtime

Tuesday, September 12th, 2006

don’t expect to buy anything in the iTunes Music Store today. Looks like the insiders have been right in saying today is the day that they will start offering Movie downloads as all you will find when you click on the music store is a black screen with the words “It’s Showtime” in black and white. Apple does have a big media event today in which they will unveil some new products and services so keep your eyes and ears open.

Within the week I will be unveiling my own product, a program that could find its way into your everyday routine. So keep your eyes on this page and you will be able to let everyone know you heard it here first
